We can use the word "yakın" or "yakında"
1) Location
Okul eve yakın mı?
Is the school close to the house?
Eğer buraya yeni bir okul yaparlarsa, benim okulum eve çok yakın(da) olacak!
If they build a new school here, then my school will be so close to the house!
Yakında olan marketlere baktım ama bulamadım.
I searched the stores that are close but could not find it.
Hep yakınımda ol, hiç uzağa gitme.
Always be around me, never go away.
O adamı arabamın yakınında görmek istemiyorum.
I do not want to see that man nearby my car.
Evin yakınında en az iki tane market var. (genitive + de/da/te/ta)
There are at least two stores nearby the house.
Sırf sana yakın olmak için işini değiştirdi.
He changed his job just to be close to you. (around you)
Haritada bu iki ülke birbirine çok yakın görünüyor.
These two lands seem so close to each other on the map.
Deprem çok yakında olmuş, biz bu yüzden bu kadar çok hissetmişiz.
The earthquake has happened somewhere close to here, that's why we felt it this much.
(the speaker learned it from news or some other source and now shares the story, this is why we use "muş". If we said ....yakında olmuş olmalı, then it would be a guess and continue with the definite past tense like this; çok fazla hissettik. )

Yakınlarda hiç kitap okumadım.
Recently I haven't read any books.
Yakında kim haklı göreceksin.
You will see soon who is right.
Yakında tatile gidiyorum, gitmeden önce seni görmek isterim.

NOTE
If something is likely/going to happen very soon, then we say "birazdan". Biraz means a few, a little and birazdan means after a short while, very soon. If you are in the kitchen and the rest of the house is just restless and instead of coming and helping you they're just asking; "When the food is ready!!!??? , We are so hungry!" Then the best Turkish word that you can ever use is "birazdan"
