Do you want to speak Turkish and meet the other Turkish Learners? Now we are on Google Plus to speak Turkish together! Come and join us!

hazır - ready, prepared

Let's first learn how people say that they are ready in Turkish for all subjects.
Ben hazırım. I'm ready.
Sen hazırsın. You are ready.
O hazır. He/She/It is ready.
Biz hazırız. We are ready.
Siz hazırsınız. You are ready.
Onlar hazırlar. They are ready.
The same way you talk about your profession or describe people. We tell the subject and our adjective (describing word) and we have a sentence. We don't have a separate word to say "to be" in Turkish, instead we add our necessary suffixes-which changes upon the subject- to our adjective.

What if we want to make a question sentence?
Hazır mısın?
Are you ready?

Yemek hazır mı? Çok acıktım.
Is meal ready? I'm so hungry.

Kahve şimdiden hazır mı? Ne çabuk yaptın!
Is coffee ready already? How fast you made it!
We add our question maker word mı which can be mı/mi/mu/mü depending on the last vowel we have; here we have "ı" (hazır).

Some other examples
Parti için herşey hazır, endişelenme.
Everything is ready for the party, don't worry.

Takım maça hazır.
The team is ready for the game.

Yemekler sonunda hazır, sadece salata eksik.
The meals are finally ready, just the salad is missing.

Doktorlar "Hazır yemek yemeyin, ev yemeği daha sağlıklı" diyorlar.
The doctors say that "Don't eat convenience food, home made food is healthier"

Let's use it with "if" and make it conditional
Herkes hazırsa sınava başlayabiliriz.
If everyone is ready, we can start the exam.

Hazırsan gidelim, yoksa geç kalacağız.
We should go if you are ready, otherwise we will be late.
In Turkish we have a word to say if; "eğer". But it is not enough itself. We also need to add se/sa to our condition/requirement. And adding this suffix is enough to make a conditional sentence even if you don't use "eğer".

I hope you are ready to use the word ready in Turkish!
Umarım hazır kelimesini Türkçe'de kullanmaya hazırsınızdır!
